SUBJECT:  Fiscal Year 1999-2000 Fringe Benefit Rates

The following fringe benefit rates will become effective July 1, 1999 for the Doctoral Cluster Institutions (UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee) and UW-Extension, and will be used when charging the employer's contribution to fringe benefits on all new and on-going extramural projects.
 
 

Regular Faculty and Academic Staff 31.50%
Regular Classified  42.00%
Research Associates, Project, Program and Teaching Assistants, and Grad Interns  16.50%
Research Assistants, Pre-Doc Fellows and/or Trainees 10.00%
Post-Doc Fellows and/or Trainees  9.00%
Limited Term Employes (LTE's) 16.00%
Ad Hoc Program Specialists, Undergraduate Assistants
 and Undergraduate Interns
 7.65%
Student Hourly Employes  2.50%

The above rates include the University’s contribution to retirement, health and life insurance, social security, unemployment and worker's compensation insurance, and income continuation insurance.  The rates for Research Assistants and Pre-Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Fellows and/or Trainees represent the University's contribution to health insurance only.  Details are in the Components of the 1999-2000 Fringe Benefits Rates table.

We appreciate your assistance in assuring that all projects with an anticipated beginning date of July 1, 1999, or later, include the above rates.
