Notice 96-1
July 28, 1995

TO: Deans, Directors, and Department Chairpersons and Secretaries
(for distribution to all Faculty)
FROM: William J. Vance, Associate Director
SUBJECT: Graduate Assistant Tuition Remission Recovery Rate for Fiscal Year 1995-96 is 25%

The Graduate Assistant Tuition Remission Recovery Rate for the current fiscal year, 1995-96, has now been established at 25%. This rate, which is charged against all graduate assistant stipends paid from Federal and Nondirect Federal funds, was effective July 1, 1995 and represents a reduction from the previous year's rate of 26%. Unless specifically prohibited by the funding agency, Principal Investigators are free to retain and use the difference for project related costs.

Charges for tuition remission recovery appearing on the July, 1995 Accounting Control Ledgers will reflect the new rate.

Upon receipt of this memo, Principal Investigators should begin using the 25% tuition remission recovery rate on all Federal and Nondirect Federal extramural applications, including revised budgets.

Deans' and Departmental Offices should update Appendix 18 of the "Extramural Support Guidelines" by inserting a copy of this memo. If you have any questions, contact Robert Andresen, Assistant Director at 608-262-2896.
