Grants.gov Agency Specific Information

Grants.gov is the Federal governments intitial solution for a "one stop shop" for finding and applying for funding. Below are some important tips for using Grants.gov.

Department of Defense

CDMRP: CDMRP full submissions have transitioned to Grants.gov. The CDMRP system is in place for pre-proposal submissions only.

Office of Naval Research: ONR has indicated that they will move forward in using Grants.gov for proposal submission. While no firm commitments have been made at this time, ONR has indicated that they would be putting together something this fall. Note that current rumors indicate the requirement to follow up with hard copy signatures. More information HERE

Department of Education: The Department of Education is transitioning to Grants.gov. During the transition, guidelines during the transition are available HERE.

Department of Energy: Effective October 1, 2005, DOE Office of Science Grants and Contracts requires all applications with the exception of the Annual Notice of Renewal and Supplements to be submitted via Grants.gov.

Department of Health & Human Services

National Institutes of Health: Phased Transition by Program Type. All R programs have transitioned. To find out when your program is/has transitioned, check the NIH transition timeline. CAYUSE NOW AVAILABLE FOR UW NIH SUBMISSIONS!!

Centers for Disease Control: CDC posted its intent to use Grants.gov on September 26, 2006. To apply to the CDC, all individuals will need Commons accounts.

Health Resources and Services Administration: Effective January 1, 2006, HRSA requires all applications to be submitted via Grants.gov

National Aeronautic and Space Administration: NASA offers proposers the option to utilize Grants.gov to prepare and submit proposals in response to most NASA Research Announcement (NRA) and Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN) programs. For NASA programs that support proposal submission via Grants.gov, proposers may opt to submit proposals via either Grants.gov or NSPIRES. National Endowment for the Humanities: Beginning in 2006 NEH is requiring all grant programs to be submitted through Grants.gov. NEH packages are not following the SF424 R&R format. Please review the guidelines and instructions for the package you download from Grants.gov carefully. NEH requires all attachments be in PDF format.

National Science Foundation: NSF has limited required opportunities and a number of optional opportunities for submission through Grants.gov. It is important to be aware that while NSF won't discontinue immediate use of FastLane's proposal submission module, they must start implementing the use of Grants.gov now. Other business functions provided by Fastlane will continue until such time that Grants.gov offers the same functionality. NSF has recently posted its Implementation Strategy and list of programs to be submitted to Grants.gov during FY07.

United States Department of Agriculture: All NRI submissions beginning if Federal FY2007 are required to be submitted through Grants.gov. Resources for preparation and submission to CSREES via Grants.gov are available HERE. Of note: The NRI Program Code and Program Code name must be entered on the CSREES Supplemental form and all attachments must be in PDF format. Deadlines for submission are 5pm ET.
