Browser issues
•  Firefox is the recommended browser for Cayuse424. You will experience slower performance with other browsers. On PCs, Internet Explorer 7 is the next fastest browser, followed by Internet Explorer 6. Performance with Safari may be acceptable when you first log in on any given day, but will probably degrade and become too slow to make Safari worth using. Browsers other than Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari are not supported.
•  Javascript must be enabled.
•  You must accept cookies from the ggov.services.wisc.edu server.
•  You must enable pop-up windows from the ggov.services.wisc.edu server.

If you have questions about this, please see the Browser Issues Powerpoint slides or contact your local tech support person.

Know your funding opportunity number

With Cayuse424 you can apply for hundreds of funding opportunities, not all of which are pre-loaded into UW-Madison's system. It's easy to load an opportunity - and the training materials explain how to do this. But you must know your opportunity number. If you do not have it on your Funding Opportunity Announcement, look it up by going to www.grants.gov and following the link that says Find an Opportunity.

Know your UW-Madison NetID

If you are a UW-Madison faculty member, staff member, or student:
Use your NetID to log into Cayuse424. If you do not have one, activate your NetID now.

If you are NOT a member of the UW-Madison community but you are collaborating with a faculty member on a proposal:
Send email to cayuse@rsp.wisc.edu and ask about how to access Cayuse424.

Know your NIH Commons ID

You must have an NIH Commons ID to submit a proposal via Grants.gov. If you don't have one, get one now. Contact your Dean's Office or send email to preaward@rsp.wisc.edu if you have questions.

Contact RSP about collaborators/subawardees

If the UW-Madison will be the prime awardee and you expect to have a subawardee on a grant that you are applying for with Cayuse424, send email to RSP at preaward@rsp.wisc.edu immediately. Before you can complete the subaward portion of your application, RSP must load some information into Cayuse424. RSP will let you know what information you must provide.
